Grey Walls with Oak floor?

Hoping for advice on painting a space that doesn't exist yet!

We are having a large open plan kitchen / living area extension built. It will have a lot of glass as the east facing back wall will be bi fold doors and there are some roof lights in as well, so should be nice and light.

The floor will be oiled oak.

The kitchen we like is oak and we really like a few burgandy accents in the kitchen we have seen.

So kitchen would look really good (I think) but then we need to tie this with the colour in the rest of the room. I don't want cream walls but neither do I want it all pinky coloured. Do you think a grey would work? Any suggestions as to a good shade ?

We need to chose the accent colour in the kitchen quite early on so it's hard to visualise. Once it's picked I will have to live with it (forever I imagine given the cost!)

I think a light grey would look great! My kitchen diner sounds similar to yours regarding oak floors and whilst I have a white kitchen, we'e opted for a pale grey colour which looks great and can be a neutral backdrop to other accent colours you may be thinking about. Hope that helps

We have a Little Greene colour in our living room called Rolling Fog (there are different tones - we have pale above dado and mid below), which is kind of a really pale beige - sounds awful, and I wasn't sure as I don't like neutrals in general but I really love it on - it is definitely not creamy, and slightly grey but warmer than most greys, and goes with pale/mid wood really nicely so might work in your kitchen if you find grey too grey?

Yes to grey- I'm sure it would look lovely. I worried that grey (f & b cornforth white on walls) and brown (wood floor) wouldn't go together in my hall and chickened out last minute . I regret it now. Go for it.

Thank you for the votes of confidence and colour suggestions. I'll get some tester pots, but go ahead with the burgandy in the kitchen.

Cornforth White by F and B would be great. I have these colours in my dining room amd I think they work well. Or any other version of light grey!

Sounds good to me. Wood and stone look good together in nature.

I think this would look fabulous too and agree with MillyMollyMama that you should take a look at Cornforth White by Farrow and ball. It is such a gorgeous colour that doesn't look at all cold.

We have strong white with an oak floor. I think it looks great! A light grey. Also F&B blackened in another room although i would say colour matching to Dulux was challenging..
