I can't reach my landing window to get the curtains down and don't want blinds!

So I have a landing window which is so high up the wall the window sill is higher up the wall than me!!
I would like to replace the curtain rail to something which I can swing out, to make it easier to remove the curtains. At present I have to get my ladder out so that I can take the curtains down to wash them! I was thinking about a drapery arm, has any body ever used one
I suppose my questions are
a) Do I hang the curtains on a drapery arm out side of the window sill (like you would normal curtains) or inside the window
b) Would you use two drapery arms for the curtains ie one for left and one for right
c) (and I know this is old fashioned but I don't like blinds) Would you also use drapery arms for nets
d) Should I just give in and move :)
Many thanks

ask your window cleaner if he will do it.

Crikey! What a palava! I'd be tempted to replace it with a stained glass window (or bung on some naice stained glass window foil) TBH.

Or would you use something else?
I really don't like the idea of blinds, especially as my landing window is on the front of the house and if I do use blinds I would have to replace every other window 'dressing' on the front of my house.

The problem I have is my window cleaner is my husband! and while he will clean every other window regularly he won't clean that one ... I normally clean this window myself twice a year when I have managed to pluck up the courage. :)

Does it need any window treatment? At that height surely you can't see in or out. I'd leave it unadorned.

Do the curtains really need washing? I don't think I've ever washed my curtains, nor can I remember my mother washing hers, apart from a set of huge woven ones (for an 8ft window) which went to a specialist cleaner every ten years or so. If you don't smoke and the window is not in your kitchen I'm not sure why they need to be washed.
