To curtain or not?

We currently have curtains and wooden blinds at all the windows downstairs at the moment and a set of French doors with just curtains.
I hate the curtains but we can't afford to replace them for the foreseeable future. Would it look too awful if we took the curtains down and had just blinds? There would be nothing on the French doors but we're not really overlooked. We would have to leave the curtain poles up for now too.
Opinions gratefully received as I want to do it but not if it will look horrible.

It wouldn't be hard to take down the curtains on a window and see what you think? I'm replacing curtains with roman blinds at the moment for a cleaner look
