So dd will be 7 and will be shsring a room with new baby, she has set her heart on Jake and the Netherlands pirate quilt cover witch is fine! But stuck what to do in rest of room, it's small on 10x7 and has wooden flooring! I'm keen to do something nice for her and something that will work well if baby is a boy! (I know this won't mater for a few years really)

I didn't want this to stay unanswered.

have you thought about dividing the room up a big so they both have their own area?

I also have in mind for when my babies are older a magnetic pin board above their beds.

also I suggest full size furniture if space is limited and just divide the space in two. we have 2 hanging rails in a normal wardrobe as their clothes are so short.

hope that is some use

I would paint it a nice bright sky blue, you can get transfers with pirate designs if she's into Jake now. They are easy to remove if she gets bored of them later. The wooden floor will then be nice as a "pirate deck" - you can put some colourful rugs down as somewhere soft to sit and play.

Careful with magnets, very dangerous if swallowed. If you want to use them make sure the baby is past the eating everything stage.

If you have room maybe a desk sized chair and table for her so she can do things out of the baby's reach?

Thanks some good idea there, love the wall art idea and like you say easy and cheap to update!

Wardrobes is one if the main things I have been thinking about, want as much storage for clothes so maybe proper size would be better and put in extra rail/shelf etc.

Would a bunk bed work? Then DD can have her own private space on the top. I know when I shared a room, the top bunk was my real private hideaway. You could even put a canopy or tent over it? Otherwise I would go for something fairly plain. I do love pale blue and it would go well for the pirate theme and isn't too girly if the baby is a boy...
