Blackout curtains or roman blinds for 3 yr olds bedroom?

Hi there,

What window dressing could I put up at my daughters bedroom window to blackout as much light as possible?

...I've always found that blackout curtains hung on a wooden pole allow too much light to creep in around the top, sides and bottom of the curtain and she wakes very early.... or would a roller blind fitted into the window recess with blackout curtains then hung from a curtain track (rather than a pole) be more effective at cutting out light?

....or...has anyone tried Roman blinds? thought these might be good as they fit flush to the wall blocking out more sunlight?

if anyone can tell me whats worked for them it'd be great! thanks
x

Both?

I find blackout blinds also let in light round the edge.

A combination of both is better. Just make sure you can tie the strings round a cleat to avoid strangulation.

I agree, you will need both, I used to have a roller black out blind and then black out curtains over the top with a pelmet which reduced light even more.
We have just replace the roller with perfect fit blinds which are fantastic. I should be on commission, I love, love, love them, they are the best invention ever.

I got the first lot from a local blind company and they were £62 per panel. I watched the guy measure and install. We loved them so much in DD's room we decided to fit them in our room and I got them from Ebay for £32 a panel.
If you watch the video and are confident in measuring and fitting yourself then it is loads cheaper, just make sure you allow for the window handle. If unsure I just took a couple of mm of the width.
