Sofa question

I recently moved and am doing lots of decorating and buying of stuff. I could do with some advice. Our front room is now decorating in off white with a neutral creamy carpet. My sofa which I have to keep for now is dark brown. I need another sofa and while I would like a checked or leather one so as not to have match matchy I can't see one I can afford. So needs to be plain.

Question is do I buy another sofa to match the current one.....but am thinking room might be overly brown OR buy a contrasting plain colour that goes with the room. I like a dark teal one I have seen in JL.

Would it look odd with 2 completely different coloured sofas in a room? Bearing in mind the room is neutral anyway.

Any advice gratefully received.

If you link the two sofas with matching scatter cushion or contrasting ie either both have gold paisley swirl cushions ( as a random example ) or brown sofa has teal cushions and teal sofa has brown cushions - you should be able to get away with it !
