I was about to order it and then went to a friend's house and they have it. Don't want it to look like I'm copying but I am in love with the wallpaper.

Any suggestions?

The similar one's I can think of are
Kashmir wallpaper from Zoffany
Moonlight wallpaper from Wallpaperdirect
I'm nearly sure sanderson has some sort of Paisley pattern also...

Not paisley but Farrow and Ball Orangerie and Lotus papers are stunning, and quite similar in style I think.

If that's the one you really love then just go for it !! You friend might even be flattered ( or just never let her into that room, when she visits !! )

She actually did say she hated it when they first bought the house years ago but now really likes it.

I'm wondering whether I'd noticed it at her gorgeous house years ago without really registering and that's why I like it.

No, your friend won't be flattered, she'll be furious.

If you genuinely did not realise she already had it, then you should have said straight away - 'oh how funny, that's the paper I've just ordered for myself.'

Even if you hadn't. At least that way you could copy without losing face. Grin

Anyway, I think you should phone her now and say 'I didn't say anything earlier because I was a bit gobsmacked to find you had the very same wallpaper I wanted, but I still really want to get it so I am just telling you now so you don't think I'm copying.'

There is nothing else you can do really but be honest, unless you choose something else. But in my experience, if you have both coincidentally gone for exactly the same print then it's a sure bet it's one that's been touted around all the magazines over the last few months as the new 'it' print of the moment and it will be horribly ubiquitous in about two years time, so perhaps try to find something similar but not so popular.

oh, hang on, I see she's had it for a few years.

I did say on Sunday "Oh that's the wallpaper I've been lusting after". It is a Cole and Son design that has been around for many many years.

I've just googled it and it's lovely BTW and I say that as a wallpaper refusnik

It's the voices again ! Telling you to just order it as she didn't specifically buy it herself ! And if she kicks up a fuss just say that your interior designer choose it and you couldn't argue with her as she's 'a big lass!' Lol !!

.... the repeat is .72m so unless your room height is only 2.1m you will only get 3 strips from each £70 roll !!! That's going to be quite an investment !!!!

Laura Ashley has a lovely one called Emperor Paisley - currently on sale I think. I love the gold one but the design is just too large for our room.

This is madness! You are both adults and happen to like the same wallpaper, surely it doesn't matter if you both have it? It's not like wearing the same dress to a function! They'll never be side by side. And anyway, the room will look completely different because it's your house with your stuff - different shape / colours / furniture.

If you had replicated her living room with the same wallpaper, sofa, rugs and soft furnishings then I would understand!

Oneplan I'm thinking of it either for the back wall of the kitchen (not sure there's enough wallspace really to make it worthwhile) or in the dining room where we'd also have the wainscoting and have the two large windows and the double doors into the living room. So not quite as big an investment as it would be if I was just papering every wall top to bottom. Dining room is winning I think.

Noddy I did look at malabar, its similar with the intricate lace effect but at the same time different. Will have another look and also check out the other suggestion.

Perfect view I hadn't seen that one in laura ashley so will check it out.

If you have it in the dining room and in the kitchen it will give a lovely link between the two rooms ! If you did a bit in the snug off the kitchen too you could kick the boys out and claim it as your own room !

We are having Farrow and Ball Renaissance in the cream/beige colour way and it's gorgeous. 2804 I think? Much smaller repeat and the bird detail is stunning.

Don't get the same as your friend, seriously, after having shown MIL the paint colour for a certain room she has then gone and decorated the same room in the same colour. It's worse than annoying.
