Need some kind of magic laundry solution - ideas welcome!

Our house has the utility room on the ground floor (very small, just a gap between the kitchen and the downstairs loo, no storage space) and our bedroom is in the roof so we need to store dirty laundry in our room before it's washed.

Current system is four big plastic Home Bargains baskets (coloured, whites/pale, delicates and household) that are along the wall in our room. They work for dirty laundry, have the wet load thrown in them to take outside for hanging and then I fold it into the baskets and put them straight onto a purpose-built shelf in the airing cupboard. Then I take the basket straight out of the airing cupboard and upstairs where it's easy to lift out and put away - one basket does everything.

It's so simple, but very very ugly. Our room still looks like we have only just moved in and I want a more elegant solution that can be hidden away. Possibly some kind of table that we can put a TV on in our room with hidden baskets underneath. But I'm struggling to find elegant baskets/pre built solutions or ideas that contain big baskets that can do all those things (fabric bags, e.g. are no good for damp washing).

Does anyone have any ideas or pinterest suggestions please?

How about classic wicker baskets?
Have a look at Dunelm Mill (sorry, can't do a live link on this laptop) They have a really wide range - the bamboo ones with lids look like they might be what you want and they're not expensive. It's a good company too, ime.

If you buy your wicker baskets ( the range has them too ) and then use a company like Jali to make an open shelf cabinet that's the right size to suit the baskets you have bought - then you can design the cabinet exactly the right size to allow space for the baskets - continue to use the basket system as you do at present - but will look so much neater !
