Navy bathroom????

So my dp wants to paint our small rundown bathroom navy. I think it will look terrible, we are doing the house up to sell later in the year and I don't think the colour will do our cramped dark bathroom any favours. He's got his heart set on it and I've chosen the colours in all the other rooms, purple lounge, pastel kitchen pastels upstairs. He thinks it will go well with the white tiles, he's right it will but I'm worried it will feel oppressive.

Any thoughts?

Put "dark blue bathrooms' into a (tax paying) search engine
and you get quite a few positive results. it's not letting me link for some reason,

but look at them closely, as lighting really important, and the flooring, the white finishes need to be clean lined and crisp,

and you need a warm blue or it will kill the look,

I've look through quite a few and most have failed,

but the ones that have pulled it off are really good,

make a file of the ones you(both of you do this then compare images) really (include any that have elements you like) like and it will narrow down the options and increase the success chance.

using two tones of the same blue might help.

compromise on the latest in colour - grey ! comes in various shades from subtle to deep ! show him a deep sample while you are buying a lighter one ! tee hee !!!

Dark blue bathroom could look great, but only if there is actually very little dark blue in the room and lots of white. So you need a light floor, white bath/sink/loo, white painted window, big mirror, white tiles around bath etc.

Look for marine blue colours which are not exactly navy but similar idea and warm. Or dark grey blues can look great too, very smart.

That said, if you are looking to sell, I'd go with neutral instead of dark blue. But then I'd also go neutral in the other rooms (I definitely wouldn't paint the lounge purple if you want to sell soon...)

If you are doing it up to sell I would say go neutral to suit a wider range of buyer.

I love navy and wouldnt let it put me off.

Crisp white tiles. Shiny chrome taps etc. White towels and white shower curtain.

It could work. Any mould will show less Grin
With nautical ornaments it can look very designer-y.
