So we are due to exchange in couple of weeks, apart from the deep red and royal blue on the walls, she's glossed ALL the kitchen tiles and fire surround tiles black gloss, as well as the kitchen skirting boards and end of kitchen units Shock

We can't afford to rip it all out yet, so any ideas please?

Once I get in I will! Never seen anything like it, is sooooo dark in there! She must have been going through 'cave woman chic' phase Hmm

Her name's not Sylvia is it? The previous owner of our house had erm interesting tastes in home decoration. She very much liked dark colours. Took us many coats of paint to get rid of it. Some sanding and several coats of basecoat paint should see it off. Good luck! We still have some original paint work and we've been here 10 years.

Tasteful! Either use lots of white gloss with undercoat, or go with another colour gloss like dark grey.

My mum suggested the mosaic tiles that come in strips that you stick on to of the tiles, anyone used them? do they even exist?

They come in sheets about 30cm square. Very easy to cut and shape around things. The only annoying thing about them is the grouting.

End of cupboards: Get wallpaper samples from B&Q or similar. Stick.

We've done it on some cupboard panels as we can't afford new ones.
