Alternative to white fitted shutters?

About to start renovating new house and was thinking white wooden shutters but realised I don't actually like them very much. Apart from curtains/roman blinds, is there any other type of wooden blind out there. Am thinking some kind of Moroccan-type screen or something, I don't know! Does anyone have any inspiration for me?!

There's a company called Jali that make decorative shutters with beautiful fretwork... check out their site Online - I have used them many times for clients and for myself - they are very professional ! :-)
