Black, white, grey and...?

We're planning a new bathroom and have decided on a black and white chequerboard tiled floor, white metro tiles to half height with grey grout and a strong grey on the walls. I'm worried it will be a bit too sombre though, so need something to brighten it up.
What colour would you go for for towels/bathmat etc?

My husband suggested lime which I'm really not sure about. And I hate red, so not that. Maybe a soft duck egg blue? Or chartreuse?

I would go for a teal, turquoise or duck egg blue type colour. But bold rather than pastel.

You might want to take a look at this site

Flick through, stop when you see the shade of grey you are after, click on the colour box of that grey (off to the side), and it will draw up the colour combos including your original choice.

Brill for insiration.

But you can waste a whole day on it going "want" "want" Grin

That is a lovely site! Might even inspire me to finish painting downstairs.

I was thinking purple or red. Something bold and statement like.

It might. Or it might mean you spend three years agonizing over being spoilt for choice and wander around each room waving pictures at it....and never actually get anywhere near a paintshop cos you can't pick between all the lovely options. (-----> me)

Hot pink looks fab with grey / black and white.

Thank you all

To me chartreuse is more yellow than lime is.

I think the reason I'm finding it tough is that I'm a very muted colours type of person and all thoughts of hot pink and orange are making me feel a bit uneasy.

I'll have a look at that site later as I'm currently at work (ahem). Does it work on ipads?

Mine is black, white, grey and fushia although I personally don't like lime I do think it goes nice with those colours.

You're all scaring me.

What about a nice purply-berry tone?

Does it work on ipads?

Yes. Unfortunatly. I can lose days there.

Bit harder to fiddle with the colour bar searcher on the iPad, but browsing and then clicking on specific tones of grey for example, to pull up connected combos works OK.

Any strong colour.

The purpley ones would be fine.

If you prefer more muted colours I would ditch the black, stick with white and grey and add in duck egg blue.

Sage green - it has a hint of silver. We are refurbishing a 1995 town house and I am almost decided on sage carpet throughout with a very large kitchen in a silvery grey, black and sage for the cabinet doors. Am struggling though with flooring for kitchen and entrance and the worktops. I am thinking black for the work tops with a silvery fleck and a slatey silvery grey marble floor. Or would the worktops be beTter grey with a black floor? Decisions. Any advice welcome.

you can pick pretty much any colour you want with that except perhaps dark blues, browns. I'd avoid pastels too personally.

If you prefer muted then I'd try to find a more sludgy green, steely or plummy purples, or teals.

Lavender, mulberry, seafoam bluey/greeny tones, apricot.
