Anyone with any design flair (please)?

Hi

After advice again (thanks).

I am renovating a house (still!) and have painted my bedroom in Laura Ashley Pale Duck Egg. Lovely colour - greeny in day, bluer at night. Lovely. Now I need to get curtains.

I have seen the Weeping Willow Marble fabric, also in Laura Ashley, and wondered whether it would go. If not, do I need to go darker brown or what?

Anyone?

How about some thick white fabric (think Portuguese style bedspreads) and bind it round the edges with some wide grosgrain ribbon in a colour close to the colour of your walls or pink? You could probably buy ready-made curtains and then just get a seamstress (or you) to machine around the ribbon.

Thanks Bonsoir. Yes, like the idea of thick white fabric. I was dismissing it as I need it as dark as possible but I guess lined it might work (might it?)

I don't think the material will go with duck egg but it is lovely material....

These are nice curtains I think would go (John Lewis) and cheaper!

Have you seen this aswell? Would go very nicely against duck egg... It's showing out of stock but I know it's a new line so it will probably come back in (it's £25) and really lovely!

I would actually avoid dark brown with the duck egg shade even though it goes. I personally prefer lighter and brighter with duck egg. Lovely white furniture would be nice... Oh, also in summer you could have lace curtains (vintage style) like this, especially nice if the room has a long window/ door with windows...

A nice venetian mirror would be good:
This is nice and unusual from Laura Ashley (on sale)

on a nice dressing table
Just ideas... Hope it all works out nicely Smile

Oh, I think you can get a pull-down blind that blocks light and still have curtains Smile if you want the best of both worlds

Hi. Sorry, I just saw I had some more replies. Thank you.

Leoandboosmum - those jl crtains are nice. Good price too. Thank you! Thanks also for the other ideas. Really helpful as I am a bit useless as the other 'bits' that make a room nice.

Off to measure up for curtains and will over those... :)

I've just done a bedroom in the same paint. We've gone for ivory furniture, glass/mirror accessories and this fabric.
It looks lovely, summery and pretty.
