We're thinking about turning a room off our kitchen into DH's study. It's a room between the hall and the kitchen, and through it is the only internal access to the kitchen.
At the moment it's used by the kids when they're eating or doing crafts, but it's not big enough for all of us to eat in so could never become a proper dining room. If we added some kind of internal wall/room divider/sliding door, we could create a room big enough for DH to use as his study (he works at home a lot so he needs to be able to shut himself away). We'd essentially be making a corridor which would join the existing hallway to the kitchen which is currently accessed by a door-shaped gap (presumably this gap did once have a door in it!).
The room gets very little sunshine, although does have french doors to outside so natural light does come in. I think the divide needs to be something that would let light through as otherwise the corridor bit would be very gloomy.
Does anybody have any experience of something similar? Or know anything about decent internal sliding doors?
Thanks.
