We keep our mop and bucket and our hoover in our cellar. This is because we are frightfully well off and live in a house with a cellar, don't you know.
(can i add it was an engagement pressie, we didn't fork out that much on ahoover for ourselves)
you get a posh hoover, is the answer.

we got a vax in champagne colour (it was sparkly) and it looked very retro/sci-fi, and therefore very pretty and cool ,so we put it in the lounge in full view.

OOh yes where DO you put the hoover?
Mine is currently in the hall but is usually in my bedroom.
I am thinking about getting my dad to make an understairs cupboard. There is only a teeny space but if he cut through the plasterboard and put a dinky door on, I could shove it in there, maybe with ds' scooter too and shoes?

I don't have a mop bucket BTW, just use the kitchen sink, but house is teeny so only 2 floors to mop and usually do bathroom on hands and knees with a cloth instead.
you can get mops where the pole goes into itself so if height is your problem you can stil store it under the sink.

MN is wonderful just for fostering these kinds of discussions.

On top of the boiler in the boiler cupboard. I find the heat dries out the mop pretty quickly so we're not left with a mouldy smell (which happens if i leave the mop and bucket out).

Another one same as CarGirl as I don't have room for a bucket. My problem is where to keep the hoover - it's in the porch, getting in the way.

Same as CarGirl, flat headed mop thing from Lakeland many moons ago, bought extra heads so can wing them in wash.

Use Dettol direct floor spray, squeeze onto floor, use flat head mop (can rinse it in the sink if needed or just replace head) Job done. Dries very fast.

I use a microfibre flat mop thingy (have 2 of the fabric bits) so don't need a bucket grin

Wet under tap, use, fling in washing machine to wash clean.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
