Creche & babysitting service in Manchester?

I don't know if this is the right thread but hope someone here is from Manchester and may be able to help!
I have arranged to meet a friend for 2 nights in Manchester and will have my 8 month daughter with me. Is there a creche facility anywhere in the city centre and/or a babysitting service so perhaps we can go out and about a bit (shopping!) without the baby.
TIA

Hi. I am from Manchester - I can't think of anywhere where you could leave your daughter in the city centre (it's not very child friendly at all I don't think)but the Trafford Centre shopping complex (indoors and out of town but not too far!)does have a creche during the day and a really nice play area. You can eat there too in the evening and at 8 months maybe she would sleep for you in her buggy? Hope that helps! Have a lovely few days in our city!

Hi! Unfortunately the Trafford Centre creche only takes children from 2 years old. Younger children can go in the soft play area next to the creche but have to have an adult with them. I can't think of anything in the centre either.

If you're in S Manchester, there is a babysitting agency I use called Network 0 - 5. They are really good, only qualified childcare professionals etc. I pay an annual registration fee, but not sure if they do 'one offs', could ask if you like. The other one round here is Safehands, who do one-offs, but we had a lot of problems with them just trying to register so gave up in the end. Let me know if you want more info.

Dimples - Hope I'm not too late to help but I work for Manchester City Council when not on maternity leave and believe that their staff creche/nursery opens on a Saturday for anyone wishing to go shopping - not jut employees. It is at the St Peter's Childrens Centre in the Town Hall Extention, on St Peter's Square next to Central Library. (There is a chance that this only ran up to Chrstmas but I didn't thnk that was the case).

Can I suggest that you call the Early Years & Play department on 0161 234 7111 for more details.

Good luck!

I've just seen an advert for Network 0-5, it says www.network0-5.co.uk
or tel 0161 928 0225

I haven't used them but the advert looks good, they say no registration fee and do regular babysitting or one offs, emergency childcare etc.
