Have been unable to work for about 18 months because of my chronic back problem. Can't stand for prolonged periods, need a supportive chair for office work, can walk small distances but would struggle with lots of walking and many stairs. Applied for community job far less physical than ward work but was declined on health grounds. So now what do I do??!

Have 10+ years of nursing experience so shame to lose all of that really but not sure where to go. Have considered teaching but can't stand all day. Social work? Not sure I'm up to a degree right now (although I do have a nursing one). Please help!

Have you thought about NICU nursing? I can't speak for all units but mine is really good for the girls with back problems. They get to sit down lots, only look after babies in height adjustable incubators and the babies are generally tiny Smile
