Hi there

Due to go back to work SeptemberShock
... coming round sooo fast!!

Whilst being on mat leave my manager has left. I applied for her job & have an interview next week. Soooooo nervous as feel so out of touch with anything workwise.

Does anyone have any ideas what questions I may be asked???

Thanks in advance

Is it for a provider (hospital) or a commissioner? Is it for a particular specialty ( eg ophthalmology or orthopaedics)

If for a provider they might ask you:

What challenges do you think we are facing in providing good care for our patients? ( answer - meeting the 18 week referral to treatment target, providing new NICE approved treatments which are increasing demand)

How do we balance the need to provide efficient patient care with considering the individual needs of the patient ( answer - we don't balance, we do both - the Francis report requires the hospital to be compassionate in nursing, to provide safe levels of nursing etc)

How would you deal with an error you discovered - eg a patient had not been called in quickly enough when their test results were suspect? ( answer - total openness with both the patients and with the risk management team to allow learning to take place)

What are the particular challenges for getting a patient discharged in good time? (Answer - there being a suitable nusring home place available or a community care package in place and ready to go - the key to providing both being to work with our community and residential sector providers in planning after discharge cRe as soon as the patient comes into hospital).

Hope this helps - let us know how it goes!
