A teacher in Aberdeen

Hi all, moving to Aberdeen from my country next month iam an engineer and looking forward to change my career hoping to become a teacher there, advice needed from teachers how to become a teacher in Aberdeen what kind of studies needed, a friend of mine advised of having aTefl course plus amontessori one yes they costs alot but are they really enough and worth money to start my new career?, any other ways???

I don't know what your friend does but that is not the way to become a teacher. You will need to do teacher training. There are several routes into teaching - the traditional PGCE which you do through university, SCITT (school centred initial teacher training) where you will need to find a teaching school who train students, the salaried school direct route or the unsalaried school direct route - there are several ways to do both of these, some unis offer them, some teaching schools offer them instead of the SCITT. I suggest you go onto the TES website forums (there's a section for prospective student teachers) and have a look there.

Teaching courses are quite competitive. It would be pretty essential to have experience working or volunteering with children.
