Anyone have experience as a higher education support worker/note taker?

The promise of flexible hours and being in term time sounds very attractive as does the learning I might do from attending undergraduate lectures.

However, what bothers me is that it is a 0 hour contract and work is not necessarily guaranteed. Has anyone ever applied for something like this and did it ever materialise into anything? I'd love to hear about other people's experiences and in the mean time, I shall continue to look for a part time job. Thank you in advance.

A friend of mine did this and found she got regular work from the same students. She really enjoyed it as well.

Oh thanks for the reply Appletini. The start of the academic term is still some time away so I'm a bit anxious. It's good to hear positive things about it.

I worked as a note taker for a deaf student for a while. It wasn't regular. I went to lectures with her and to meetings with her tutors, but she was in her last year so it lasted for the remainder of her course.
