Hi all I wonder if you can help. Trying to begin to think about nursery care. dS will be 12 month on starting nursery full time, any ideas on how much this might cost? Based in Berks area

Very much depends on the nurseries local to you.

I am in East London. A full time place for a baby (ie under 2 as the ratios are higher) is between £1000 - £1250 a month depending on the nursery.

Might be a bit cheaper in Berks but probably not much.

I'm in the Home Counties. They range here from £900-£1500 depending where you choose or if you use childcare vouchers or not. Ds attends a lovely little nursery, it's really not much to look at and feels quite cramped, but the quality of care, facilities and activities is second to none. It's £900 per month with vouchers. There is one up the road, bigger and 'flashier' that charges £1500 per month for a shorter day, and although looks the biz, is no better than our nursery in terms of care and education.

£30 per day in East Midlands. Works out at about 600 per month full time including discount for 5th day.

Ten years ago in London was £90 per day.

I got a quote for £213 per week for full time (7.30-6.00) from a nursery in Oxfordshire. I imagine the prices are pretty similar in Berks.

Wales here, commuting distance to Cardiff, £1100 per month for a full time place which includes 8-6 so you effectively get the hour each end "wraparound" care.

Gosh, some of these prices are high. I paid £35 a day for nursery/£26 a day for childminder a few years back. North England.

SW London and £1,500 per month, full time here. I'd imagine Berks would be similar or slightly cheaper, depending on the area.

In my area (Surrey/Berks border) it can be around £50 per day for an under 3.
Childminders are around £5 per hour, so could be a similar cost for full days.

It will vary, so probably best to contact some providers in your area.
A list of nurseries and childminders is available from your Family Information Service (often run by local or county council).

It can vary enormously, here in Essex it is between £40 and £55 per day for 8-6
Different nurseries charge in different ways e.g extra for meals, extra for hours past 5pm etc. you really need to look at what is available locally that suits your requirements
