Pre-school / Montessori when working full-time

DS has been at the same excellent nursery for almost 2 years. We moved 6 months ago and have been using our residents' parking permit from our previous borough to enable us to park the car near the nursery while DH and I work full-time. The permit is going to expire in June, which means we won't be able to park there any more. We can't park at work. I have tried taking DS on the bus, but for a number of reasons it just is not feasible all the time. That means we have to find a new nursery. DH and I have looked around the two places near our new house but they just don't compare with DS's existing nursery. As DS is now 2.5 I thought it would be an option to find him a pre-school (Montessori or otherwise) - even though classes finish early in the afternoon (using a childminder to pick him up). However, all the ones I've looked at are term-time only. I know we are going to have to face this once DS starts school, but I would rather not just yet. There are so few options for working parents - we just don't know what to do. Does anyone have a pre-school and childminder combination while working full-time. What about school holidays? Sorry I have gone on a bit

Yes, we do! DD started a school nursery at 2.5y, but they have early care and after care so she (and lots of others) are there from 8-5 during term-time. She goes to a childminder for half-term and hols. it's all working out brilliantly, not least because she was "ready" for a nursery school rather than a day nursery IYSWIM.

You should be able to get a childminder who will pick up and do hols. Get a list from your council and ring round.
