Do you mean borough-wide or "real" Greenwich town, bk?

I think the closest that takes babies is a BUPA Teddies nursery in Westcombe Park, which is east of Greenwich "proper". Apparently it is a very good nursery, but I do wonder whether the scarcity of provision in that area of the borough means it might have a long waiting list...
Now on the other hand, in deeply unfashionable south Greenwich we have three nurseries that take babies within walking distance of our house. One is a no-no, one a so-so, and then the one we chose.
This is a subject dear to my heart, bk...we moved from Blackheath partly because there were then NO nurseries that took babies in the area. In fact I was recently featured in the Eltham Times brandishing dd and grumbling about the shortage of nurseries in north Greenwich. It's one of the worst areas in the UK for nursery places, according to the Daycare Trust (which was the point of the article).
None of this information is very helpful for whomever you are passing it on to, I suspect.

Amen to that. We had to put the sluglet into Poplar Play in Tower Hamlets. I know of at least one Greenwich town mum who has her daughter there.

thank you very much my friend is also considering canary wharf due to the scarcity of nursery places locally...

Bk, Slug, I'm not surprised. The shortage in Greenwich/Blackheath is utterly infuriating considering the numbers of young families in the area, not all of whom are in the nanny bracket. There are several SE10/SE3 babes at dd's nursery, a good 20 minute drive away.

If Canary Wharf the Unicorn nurserys are all wonderful but v. pricey (£1,175/month) - there are 3 different sites all run by the same people, and they take babies from 3 months

Mrs Bartletts Daycare on Dartmouth Road is changing to a full time nursery soon. You could try there.

Bossykate, it may be too late now, but my ds and my dd both attend Robert Owen Early Years Centre in Greenwich. It is a local authority Early Years centre, and a very long established nursery school (I went there in 1973-75 but it has been around for years before me!). In 2000 it moved into a fantastic modern building with wonderful outside area etc. It is not too expensive as local authority and has very good social mix. Until v. recently they only took children from 1 year, but on 15 March their Baby room is opening!! Then they will take babies from 3 months. I really recommend it.

bighug, I agree, Robert Owen is fab. My oldest son went there and had a wonderful time. The teachers were so caring. I have very fond memories of the prefabs and the pretty garden. I am glad the old spirit continues in the new premises.

That is great news about a Baby Room at Robert Owen, bighug, the nursery has a good reputation locally (as well as satisfied Mumsnet customers )

Again its more Westcombe Park but what about The Blackheath Day Nursery? Is that still around? I think they take babies.
