Understanding part time in a primary school??

Hi

First post (exciting stuff!)

I am planning on going back to my primary school on a 0.8 basis. We are trying to sort out childcare and I realised I hadn't thought about PPA. Does 0.8 mean I will be teaching 3.5 days and get 0.5 of a day PPA in school? My head teacher doesn't mind if we do PPA elsewhere so realistically I could be at home and not need child care during PPA and then do my work on an evening when the husband is home. Any teachers out there that could shed light on this??

Thanks in advance

Confused mum!

I believe PPA is 10 of your work week, so over 3.5 days you will have approx 17.5 hours contact time. If I am right you would have to have 1.75hrs (1hr45mins) of PPA each week.

A normal week is 25hrs contact so 2.5hrs PPA, I.e. half a day.

Lots of schools do it a bit differently though. Those were the official rules a year or do ago when I was last in school.
