my children are 5 and 7 so both at school.
I was made redundant 6 years ago. THis week I have been asked to go back to my old job part time 20 hours a week 2 and half days a week.
Half of me wants to (for me and the money) half of me is so so scarred about it. Don't know what to do for the best. Have I got the confidence to go back to an office.
My husbands work said they will let him have the time off in the school holidays to cover when Id be working

That sounds like a great opportunity - go for it! Even though things will have changed in 6 years, a lot will still be the same? Definitely give it a go - it's much easier to go back to a familiar job, than job-hunting from scratch. Do they need to interview you or have you just been offered the job?

Remind yourself that you've done this before and can do it again. After a couple of weeks, you will be back in the swing of it. Good luck.

Go for it!!!!!!! I was made redundant, two kids later, am trying to get back to work. Part time work, doing what you know and DH covering holidays? I'd be jumping at the chance. It is hard out there so any opportunity should be taken. The longer you leave it, the harder it is.

You have probably made your decision by now but thought I'd write anyway. I can understand that you feel a lack of confidence going back after 6 years. Maybe looking at it this way will help: would they have asked you back after 6 years if they didn't trust you enough to be able to do the job? And imagine all the things that you have learned while you haven't worked. I am amazed how mothers who have been at home are seen by many as people who have lost skills when all that time they have gained so much experience and knowledge. Figure out how you can take all that knowledge and strengths from motherhood and turn it into a confidence boost. How could you apply that to your job?
I just think it is such a confidence boost to be asked after 6 years to come back!
Hope that whatever decision you have made is the right one for you!
