Interview questions. Why are you the best candidate?

Why should we employ you rather than one of the other candidates?
And "there are two minutes of the interview left. Tell us why we should give the job to you."

This type of question. What do they want to hear? How should you formulate the response? I had an interview recently, 7 people for the first round, and I didn't get called for the second round. I'm almost certain it was because of the last question of the interview. Everything else seemed to go well, then I stumbled on this one. I have an interview next week. I need this job. Any advice?

I have the necessary qualifications and experience, I have a good track record of doing x, I have a good work ethic as shown in my references, I am in good health and at a good time to be able to focus on the job, I don't bullshit much :)

I would turn that into something easier to answer:
What might distinguish me from other candidates: And talk about any strengths I have that I imagine others might not. Coz truth is you can't comment about others, but you can comment on your unique attributes. So it's not a fair question anyway, unless they show you all the other's CVs.

Also try to add something personal about you in a light-hearted way. What the others have said is spot on but as someone who interviews a lot, you need to be memorable and a lot of people give stock answers/phrases which are a bit yawn. Bit of sense of humour (dep on job obviously) always works for me :)
