Hi I'm a single mother of 2 and my youngest has started school this september. I'm now looking to go back into work, but need to find something that fits in with us. The school my boys attend has a before and afterschool club so realisticly I can work mon to fri from 8.30 til 5.30. I can't do weekends or bank holidays.
So what I'm asking is does anyone know of any employer that are sympathic to us lone parents with limited childcare options??
I live near to a large town with lots of chain shops...so I'm looking at these but most of the ads I've seen want some weekend work or late nights or both??? Help please

Retail generally wants staff who will work evenings and weekends, maybe look for office clerical work if you have no family assistance with childcare? Bank cashiers generally only work one or two Saturdays er month, and other than that the hours are fairly good so if you were able to get occasional help off a friend / family member this would be a goo option :)

9-5 office job. Public sector, ie local or central government often offer flexible working (although these jobs have been massively cut Sad). Hospitals. School administration, which might give you school holdays off. Is there a university or college near you? They need a lot of administrators - there are usually several vacancies at any one time at our 2 local unis and FE college.

Do you live hear any hospitals - the NHS are great for lone parents or just working mothers for that matter.

I have applied for a postion at a near-by hospital and I'm now registered on the NHS website, I'll keep looking. My sister lives near by and she could do the occasional sat or sun perhaps, thanks for suggestions...that gives me alot to go on Smile
