I was told recently about a qualification which enables you to train whilst teaching in FE college (not a PGCE) Anyone got into teaching via this route?

Think the qualification was called PTLLS...

Hi Victoria
I did a PTLLS this year - it was a 12 weeks evening course designed for people with work experience who need to learn teaching skills to enable them to teach in the post 16 sector. You can progress to a DTLLS which is a full diploma taking a year (I think) and is a full teaching qualification. My course was excellent, I'd recommend it - by coincidence, after a few months of searching I've today been offered my first teaching job! Nervous or what??

Hi Raskol. Thanks for responding. Congratulations on the job offer! So will you do the full diploma once you are working as an FE teacher then?

Hi I'm also interested in doing this course!

What subject are you interested in teaching?

Well have a first degree in politics so maybe something related to that. But it looks as though you can do update courses in other subjects if you haven't studied them before so not sure really yet. Am on maternity leave at the moment but got made redundant before leaving work so wondering about doing something different when I go back. How about you Movingfwd?

What line of work were you in before?

I've got a NVQ level 2 in business admin and I am now studying for a level 3! Well supposed to be studying but not doing it Blush and also have work experience in that area so that's what I would teach.

What are the courses that you can do to teach a new subject as I would also be interested in that.

In finding it really difficult to just get on and do my NVQ right now as there is no college course it's all work based Confused

I think teaching would be great as would fit in better with having dcs!

I think you need to decide if you want to teach rather than the holidays being attractive. Teaching in FE can be hard with long unsocial hours including evenings.

@movingfwd: was managing a team for a national charity. Am quite sick of working in an office and would relaly like to do something more 'at the coal face' IYSWIM?

Will have a look and get back to you about the conversion course thing I heard about - can't remember where I saw that now.
