Spare Computers......

Does anyone have a solution to my problem, any ideas would be appreciated.

We seem to be running the RSPCA equivelent for computers - Dp keeps getting computers given to him (nothing dodgy about them) they're usually ones that the owners have had updated or that something (minor)doesn't work so they end up here.

We now have 2 pcs in bed rooms with monitors, 2 lap tops only 1 that works as dp has lost the code to other and no longer works with orig owner.

3 towers with bits in under our bed, various other parts and in case all of the computers break down on the same day bits. You get the jist well what can we do to get rid of them? We don't want to sell/give them to friends as we don't want to feel bad if they breakdown on them and then obliged to go around and fix it (dp does not fix computers for a living but does get asked to frequently).

It seems a waste to throw them out. I was thinking of giving them to people who want a computer for their children but dp said that it wouldn't be a good idea as he'd end up istalling it and then being called around to fix it when it went wrong.....

So what would you do with spare computers?

well - bags I one! (for a friend who knows lots of IT geeks). Actually I should phone her first.

If you don't find takers for the others, I just did a search and found this computer recycling site . But I think some councils collect them and give them to schools etc don't they?

There is a place in Leicester that takes spare computers & bits; It's in Western Park, something like "Eco-house". You can find it on the web, I imagine.
