Can anyone tell me about organising professional development courses?

We're planning to organise a one-day course for our clients to give them some background information about the scientific area in which we provide consultancy. I don't want to go into too much detail, as it's a very identifiable field, but we know there is a demand for it as we've been asked several times to provide a session of this kind.

What would you expect to charge individuals attending such a course? Or if you attend courses, what would you consider a reasonable fee? Our clients are mainly in the public sector, but have deep pockets for things they consider important. We're based in a university scientific department, and our overheads would include hiring the lecture theatre, fees for speakers, lecture handouts, tea, coffee (maybe lunch as well?). We'd plan to have maybe 50-100 people attending, so that they would be able to ask speakers questions individually or in small groups.

Any advice?

Okay, I know it's not the most exciting topic, but someone must know something about it?!

No idea, so mainly bumping for you....Would it be an all day event? If so, how does £250 per person sound? If not, perhaps £125....
