Help in writing a resignation letter

Dear all,

I've decided not to go back to my existing p/t job when my 6 months SMP is up. This is for 3 reasons;
1: my contract is temporary with the funding running out early next year (due back in october) so I'd have to job hunt by march.
2: although its p/t it requires a high degree of flexibility which would mean I'd end up needing more childcare - ie 4 days worth of childcare on a 3 day salary to allow for the week by week nature of the job.
3: My feelings about the job have changed - its a job which requires alot of patience with people and caring and I feel I use all that up on my son. I can't quite see me after a night/morning of being patient with a 6 month old who won't eat, going into work and having any patience or energy left for dealing with someone who doesn't believe smoking is damaging their health.

What I am planning to do is to take 3 more months off and look for a f/t job starting in january which would mean we earnt enough to employ a nanny - a better solution than nursery f/t.

How do I write the letter?

You need to include;

The position you are resigning from
How much notice you are giving, ie I am giving you one weeks notice from my position as ........... my last employment date will be Monday 12th september 2005.

You do not need to give a reason, but a general thankyou for the experience and I wish you success fo the future.

thanks - a few people have said don't give reasons - but I feel awful not telling them why. I do like the company and if there was a f/t job with a 2yr minimum contract on offer I'd stay.

If you dont want to pur the reason in a letter, make an oppointment with the manager and explain why face to face over a coffee, that is what I did.
