I worked weekends in an estate agents 15 years ago - don't think I'd be any help at all!! I did meet Suzy Lamplugh's mum, who "popped in" to invite me to a local talk she was giving on safety in the workplace.

I'm not one, but I have a friend who is an estate agent.

She works five days one week, six the next (alternates sat/sunday I think). I think she is obliged to work weekends, but that probably differs between agents. I don't know anyone at her office who works school hours.

On a day to day basis, the jobs seem to be split into groups, ie, valuers, negotiators, whatever. She seems to do a bit of both. So she goes out to value houses, shows potential buyers around, accompanies people who have bought a house but want to measure up.

She also liaises between buyer and vendor (making offfers and other communications) and refers people on to the financial advisors who are based in the office.

She has excellent communcation skills and is very persuasive, but I don't think all estate agents are as good as her!
