My 3 children are so diverse! Can anyone relate to this?

My first, now nearly six, used 30 words at 12 months, 173 words at 15.5 months and could read entirely independently in reception despite being the youngest starter. He's on the G&T register.

My second, just turned 4, is a captivatingly affectionate soul who walked at 26 months, began to talk slowly at 30 months and is about to be assessed for a statement.

No.3 (10 months) is a smiley sweetheart who puts up with so much from her very boisterous big brothers.

They're an exhausting three, but there's a lot of affection between them.

You kept count of the number of words your child used at 15.5 months old? How weird. Did you note them all down in a book and say "ooh, make that 173 - he's just said claustrophobic"?

Have to say they don't sound diverse. Mine are diverse. So far one is brilliantly clever and good at school, the other can't be arsed

You posted the same thing just the other day - what response are you hoping for, if you don't mind my asking?

My children are all very different too, but I try not to compare them to eachother - they are all special.

My children are different from each other but i think all children re different/unique. Both my dd's are on the Autstic spectrum and they are both good at different things, Dd1 spoke at 9 months, dd2 is 3.2 and almost non-verbal but they both have things they are good at and things they are not so good at but thats what makes them individual.

No I don't get the point of this posting either. But I have to say, I'm excited at the prospect of very diverse siblings. I've just had DS2 and really looking forward to finding out what he's like and what his interests are.

aw you lot are being terribly harsh! I imagine she's posting to find other mums in a similar position - one with G & T, and one with possible SEN.

As I only have one child who is not G & T, I can't relate to this!

But it is the bizarre counting of words etc.

Why not just say - "Hey, how do you all manage with one DC G & T and another possible SEN?"

I have to say that when you have one child that doesn't speak ( or more accurately speaks and then stops) you tend to have a pretty keen awareness of how many words the others have - and at what age.

I have a bright boy, a severely autistic boy and a small girl who is a very sweet pain in the butt. But i think most people quickly realise that all their children are different don't they ?

hmmm...isn't that all kinda normal...surely no one has children that are the same....
my 3, all boys, couldn't be more different from eachother if they had all different parents, lol....

I don't think it's really about diversity, more about having two children with additional needs. Both a child with sn and one with above average ability is going to need extra support.

Ithe counting the words is a bit ott but I do think some mnetters can be too quick to jump down the throat of anyone they perceive to be bragging.

your children are all , i'm sure perfectly lovely.

DS is dyslexic, DD was on the cusp of a speech delay.

one is a boy, one is a girl

they are lovely little beings with their own individual strengths and weaknesses

is there something you need help with ? re the SN or the G&T?

btw, the counting words? why?
