I agree it is very pathetic, but no need to start a new thread in whih for it all to kick off on.

Which is the thread taking the piss out of G+ T children? I've never seen one.

But they aren't a group of children - it's crass unhelpful blunt instrument of a label which is well worthy of the odd jibe.

Netmums that way [points downwards]

I really can't see why people are so . The constant questions, the money needed on extra activities to keep them quiet 'stretched' (I hate this term).

I am really sick of all the piss taking. No one chooses a child like this. Give us a break.

No, it's an unwanted and laughable section on an adult posting forum that we are poking fun at. We do that here. We poke fun. The only person blithering about your children Kerrymum is you.

Ds1 was a gifted child. He was bullied to the point of trying to kill himself, just because he was clever.

That's terrible 3littlefrogs, but it's irrelevant. Nobody's laughing at children, people are poking fun at the G&T label and this section because it's a stupid crass label that means little and achieves less.

Er, I'd choose to have a clever kid! Most people would. Not taking the piss out of the kids, but out of the section, and sometimes the parents.

I haven't requested its removal, I'm happy to make the odd light-hearted joke about it every now and again, thanks.

I have a very able child with concomitant social problems and peer bonding issues too - I post about him a lot. Sometimes in a jocular manner, even on the SN board.

Take the pokers out of your arses and stop trying to find things to be indignant about, fgs.

For fucks sake I am so fed up with G+T.

If you have a very clever child you are not carrying any kind of special burden. It is normal. It is normal to be in the top five per cent, just as it is normal to be in the penultimate five per cent or the middle or the bottom.

Of course there are G+T children who also have special needs. Of course there are G+T children who are bullied. But G+T itself is a pseudo-category. And both my DSs are on the G+T register so don't pull the old envy line.

And no-one takes the piss out of G+T children on MN.

I make a point of avoiding the G&T threads - but I can sort of understand where KM and Avena are coming from because of some of the titles I have seen - because of the things that happened to me and ds. I guess it depends on your point of view.

However, as I haven't read them, maybe I shouldn't have commented.

Why the parents? The ones who need support don't ask others to start shit threads notifying all that their little darling can now piss in the toliet and asking if this makes them gifted.

No one asks for their child to be such bloody hard work sometimes. Give us a break.

I posted a thread in G&T once about ds2 managing to do up his toggles by himself. It was a lovely moment I wanted to share, and it came on the back of months of anguished posting about ds1 and his AS and problems at school - moved up a year for this that and the other but still wetting his trousers every day etc. The toggle thing was a slightly ironic joke which was quite obviously not designed to cause offence.

Enter the po-faced self-righteous G&T mums bleating about not being taken seriously and poor G&T children being the butt of the world's ill-humour. Give me strength.

If your children are as brilliant as you think they are, I pity them growing up with the smell of burning martyr in their nostrils.

just read that "why do we have this topic" thread linked to, it seems fairly sane and not that pissy and a very valid question.
