Talk to other parents about parenting a gifted child on this forum.

Gifted and talented

Any forums for parents of 'gifted' kids other than this?

I hate posting on here as I feel everything people say gets slated as boasting etc.

Any recommendations for other sites where this doesn't happen as much....I need some advice about a couple of things.

There's an area on Parents Centre, but it's still part of a general parenting forum. Just go for it here!

NAGC has a forum for members only. There are a few US sites out there to post on.

Or you email one of us supportive mums and maybe we could do a chain email between us?

Or just post on here. Ignore the downright rude and ignorant, think about the alternative points of view that people express and eithr acceep or reject them and accept the huge amounts of support offered. And remember that people are allowed to have opinions on this topic as they are on any other. Questioning and disagreeing sometimes is not the same as slating.

Ok will stick with it and try and again but will start a new thread for my qns. Thanks for the encouragement. I just hate the whole culture of anti-giftedness!

Exactly Kerry. That's not actually on my question list but is the kind of thing that's annoying. I wouldn't have ds tested (he is too young anyway) unless there was a clear reason but I respect others right to want to do this and ask others for advice without being jumped on.

I've been posting elsewhere on MN and lurking on these G&T threads and occasionally replying to other people's OPs but don't enjoy the culture of the G&T boards (much as I love MN generally).

I just can't be bothered arguing with the cynics so I was going to post on another forum!

NAGC has a closed forum for members only, but I didn't find it very helpful.

I sometimes CAT people on mumsnet for this reason. I'm happy to receive CATs if you want to contact me privately.
