My dd1 is bright not sure about Gifted. She was reading and writing before starting reception as a summer born baby and was sooo bored academically that year. She is currently in Year 3 and again she is bored. In Year 2 Sats she achieved level 3's but had a lovely teacher who tended to keep on top of her. Now in Year 3 she has had a succesion of supply teachers due to her teacher going off long term sick since September. They have tried their best but it is very hard to keep consistency going and they have been re-taught things fairly regularly as the teachers were unaware these had already been taught....Anyway to cut a very long story short she is still only level 3c which I feel is actually going backwards. What can I do?

One thing to remember is that a Level 3 in Yr2 is not equal to a Level 3 in Yr3. It's confusing because the name is the same but they are actually assessed differently.

Ds1 is in Yr3 and it seems to be a common thing that this seems to be a year where it looks as though no progress has been made.

Well, first of all, don't worry about the 3c thing. Children often appear to be going backward in Year 3 because it really is harder to achieve level 3 at Key Stage 2 than Key Stage 1. It doesn't mean she is worse than she was last year.
WRT the supply thing, there is nothing the school can do about using supply, but reteaching things because the supply doesn't know what has been taught isn't good enough - someone should have overall responsibility for planning lessons for the class. I would request a meeting with the HT to discuss your concerns. Other than that, just keep stimulating her at home and she will be fine.

Thanks. I've heard it before about level 3's but I still think she should be achieving better she is off the scale for her reading but apparently she isn't transferring this to her writing. She wrote a story at home that was incredible but in school she just can't be bothered. She also has really poor organisational skills so spends ages dithering about and not getting on with it....I just want her to do her best but she really isn't. I know school can't carry the can for all her behaviours. Is there anything I could be doing to help her achieve her best? I feel very frustrated.

Children often plateau then take off again. Her mind may be concentraiting on learning other skills rather than academic ones. My DD something similar in Year 4,

Does she have difficulties with organising her thoughts to get her ideas down? If so then Mind Maps are very good for some children. If you google for Tony Buzan he has a mind maps book designed specifically for children.
