Crisis of confidence

Dd goes to a specialist school which caters for a particular talent. However she is finding it hard

She absolutely loves the school & teachers (as do we) but she is now a very small fish in a much larger pond. She is one of the weaker children which is obviously a culture shock

It all came out & she had a bit of a meltdown over something most of the other children in her year are doing & she is one of just a few who isn't ready yet.

She's getting upset with herself if she can't achieve certain things that the others perhaps can (though she doesn't see they have their weaknesses too)

We've had meetings with the school & are seeing her teachers again tomorrow. They are concerned that she's losing the one area that was a big strength of hers due to a downward spiral in self confidence.

I don't really know what to advise, but two thoughts:

Children's learning often goes in fits and starts with spells of little apparent progress followed by rapid progress

Would a Saturday school be an alternative - junior conservatoire or similar (assuming that would be appropriate)?
