My periods have suddenly become irregular!!

I'm in need of advice and reassurance. My period cycle has gone from 29 days to 27 to 26 to 24 then back up to 38 days and I'm currently waiting for this months to appear and I'm on day 43!! I'm 39 yrs old and praying it's not early menopause symptoms!!
Been on the internet and my heads spinning with possible reasons from brain tumours to diabetes!
Anyone out there had similar experience?

i have a theory. i think that some women's periods go wonky because of clocks going back.

i am 4 days late and was exactly the same last april and normally 28days to the hour.

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days OR with less than 4 days of variation from month to month. So in your case the last cycle and this current one would be seen as irregular.

I would look into having blood tests done to see what your hormone levels are like as such problems are more likely than not to be hormonal.

Thorough blood work analysis shoudl be done to see if there are indications of polycystic ovaries or thyroid imbalance (both of these can cause periods to become irregular).

Do see your GP asap and please, no more googling!!!. You need a diagnosis first and foremost!.

my cycle has altered recently , i usually go 25 days sometimes 31, or last month was 23 days ,i have appt on friday to get reasurance as i also have been getting ovulaton pains after ovulation ...b loating to ,so will go to get advice .
i do think the normal range is 21-35 to i have read this also , so try not to worry , the more you worry the later it will come ..

mine used to be 28days but are now all over the place.I'm 43 so am putting it down to early menopause............ bit grim but hey ho.

my mum has said to me she went through menopause at 43 maybe i will start early also ... although i dont think that is case for me right now ..

I agree with Attila - don't google but see your gp. I had exactly the same happen to me - went from 28 days cycle to 32 then up to a 39 day cycle and even a 40 day cycle at one stage. Saw my gp who did all the tests to check for PCOS and hormone levels, with view to possible early menopause, but all came back negative and it must have been just "one of those things". Hope this helps - but still see your gp for your own reassurance.

Thanks FrankMustard, that's it I going, I'll book the appointment tommorrow, God I hate going to the Docters I've managed to avoid it most of my life....maybe I've stored up a backlog of appointments which have been waiting to spring up and surprise me!!!

I am worried, since I had my implant out in feb my period have gone from 28days to 39 days but now it's jumped to 56 days. Why would this happened.
