I've been feeling pretty rotten for a few days now. I've had a sore throat, aches, tiredness. Then yesterday, I was sent home from work as I felt sick and was definatley going to vomit.

Now I have an upset tummy as well as nausea. Basically, I can keep food inside for about an hour (sorry)

I can't be ill, the kids don't let me. From 1pm to 3pm its okay as DS and DN nap. Just want to feel better plus I'm starving!

(I'm not pregnant BTW)

Is lots of sleep an option? A BRAT diet is sometimes suggested for a stomach upset: bananas, rice, apples, toast. Hope you feel better soon.

Actually, BRAT is recommended when you can keep stuff down. I'd follow your instincts, and (if possible) just have clear fluids until you feel up to food - lots of water, maybe some juice, herbal tea, stuff like that. Then try a bit of banana and see what happens. There's no point in eating if you can't keep it down.

And, as you know, rest as much as you can. Then reintroduce food slowly. Do you have any emergency daycare options? Any friends who can take the kids away for a few hours?

I'm at work Friday and am needed as we are going on a trip (I work in a school). I'm hoping I'll be better by then. I feel really bad to keep taking time off work, but these things can't be helped. I can take the kids to my mums if I need to. I'd have to stay there too but at least I could just laze about.

Plenty of fluids... drink lots of water.
Try having some lemsip... will soothe your throat, and also contains paracetamol which will help with the aches.
Take some vitamin C

and rest as much as poss!

Take echineccia (wrong sp, sorry) vit c with zinc, if you can eat make it healthy, drink lots & lots of water, sleep when you can, nice hot baths before bed and a hot milk and a whiskey before bed do the trick for me.

Wishing you better, TC x

DH insisted I ate dinner tonight. Just the smell of it made me all shakey.
Within 15 minutes of eating it, I have shooting pains in my stomach and feel sick. Just done a bit of ironing, only what needed to be done though and will try to have a relaxing night. Once the kids go to bed it will be much more relaxing.

Kid, tell your DH to sod off! If you don't feel like eating, you shouldn't eat!

Really, going on a clear-fluids diet until you feel up to food is the best thing for you. If you're not breastfeeding or pregnant, fasting for a bit won't do you any harm, and will help clear the bug.

Errr, Kid, ironing never needs to be done. Walk away from the iron, walk way!
