Has anyones kid been operated on for ptosis?

and w hat was it like?
ds3 has this and the time of operation is nearing (- well he will be 3 and a half when it happens dso it s not really near at all!) But i ave no experience of kids ops or of ptosis

its a drooping upper eyelid, purely csoemtic in ds3s case

I've got some experience of ops on kids.. my eldest had grommets put in and a seperate op removing his adenoids and tonsils. He was .. um .. 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 years old respectively.

Don't know if that helps, but if you have any questions, ask away. I'm glued to this couch for a while (have two boys glued to me, so can't leave).

I had an eye op at that age (for a squint) - can remember bits of it vividly (the hospital, not the op!).

My dd (4) has also just had an op for an epigastric hernia so can tell you about that but I imagine the only similarity is the general anaesthetic.

am slightyl worried that his eye may not totally clos ewhen he sleeps though! Hopefully as his ptosis is quite mild it wil be minimal

coddy, don't worry if his eye doesn't totally close when he sleeps, it won't cause any damage. My brother used to sleep with his eyes half open- it was spooky, it looked as if he was watching you all night, but it never did him any harm. My dd had squints done at nearly 2 and aside form a bit of post-op swelling, sailed through the whole thing.
