Ive been given tablets today to take for an infection I have. I was reading the leaflet that comes with it and it says that it can stop the pill from working which my doctor didnt tell me. Im half way through my pack so do I keep taking the pills as usual? Also I last had sex yesterday so would that be a problem if I started taking the tablets today? Im suppose to take 2 today and 1 a day for the next 2 weeks. Thanks. xxx

Keep taking the pills as recommended Tammybear. Whilst you're on them it may be good for you to use another method of contraception as well to make sure....perhaps condoms would be OK whilst you're on the tablets. Can't give you advice about yesterdays frolics but you should be able to ring the GPs and ask his advice. I am sure it will depend on which pill you are taking and the strength/type of the antibiotics prescribed.
tut, tut GP......

Well, don't quote me tammybear, but you should be ok for last night if you only started taking them today. Keep taking your pill or you'll mess up your cycle, and use extra precautions.

I would point out that I am in no way medically qualified though.

Keep taking pill as normal. Use extra contraception (eg condom) for the duration of your treatment AND for 7 days after the treatment has finished. If during treatment or the 7 days after you are due a break in your pill, skip the break and go straight on with the next pack. Don't worry about yesterday. Reason for medication stopping the pill from working is that it can either stop pill from getting absorbed properly or can speed up metabolism of pill so that it doesn't stay in your system long enough. Your pill should come with info leaflet, take a look at it.

tammybear it really depends where you are in yor cycle and what number pill you were on. TBH I would ring the Family Planning Clinic for some advice as all the pills are different.
