Ovulation question..

I posted a thread last week as I had a v heavy period a week early (not the first time it's happened). Period lasted about 3 days then seemed to stop for about 12 hours only to start again. Then a few days later I started getting a niggle in my lower abdomen which felt as though I was ovulating and which has now turned into low slung general ache. TBH I actually feel pregnant which shouldn't be the case as I am a faithful wife and my dh has had a vasectomy (7 years ago) and so scared am I of getting pregnant I actually avoid sex at ovulation time, which brings me onto the question, how soon is it feasible to ovulate after onset of period?

jampot - I know the odd vasectomy can fail but surely it is so rare that the chance of you getting pregnant is similar to you being struck down by lightning. Have you told DH how worried you are and discussed it with him? Are you sure there isn?t more to this than you are admitting. I am not suggesting that you are having an affair, just that worrying about this seems a bit crazy to me and even affecting your sex life if it stops you being spontaneous at certain times of the month. Sure you aren?t harbouring desires for another baby? If you are just genuinely worried about it with no other issues, then perhaps you should tell him that you are concerned so would like to use some back up precaution like the pill? TBH though, I reckon you are worrying about nothing!

Stripeymouse - I definitely do not want another baby! Dh and I were having sex in the week following my period and when it turned up a week early it got me thinking am I safe at any time. I have felt unable to have sex just as an extra precaution (which I know is a bit off) since dh's vasectomy. I have a heart problem and wouldn't want to risk preg again hence the vasectomy! I should really make an appt for dh to have another sperm test just to put my mind at rest. Also am feeling very hormonal and have an ache across the bottom of my belly which I vividly recall from pregnancies!

Have the sperm test but I don't think it will necessarily sort your problem of worrying which sounds a bit like it's turning into a phobia. Obviously with a heart problem you have good reason to be specially concerned not to get pg, but your worry does seem to be affecting your life negatively and that's a cause for concern.
How old are you? That could be affecting your periods, but any sudden change is worth an investigation. I don't think you are pregnant though. You might have a small ovarian cyst or something though which could easily cause all yuor symptoms but isn't remotely dangerous.

This morning still have low ache but having been to the loo, I seem to have passed a browny stained mucus (presumably left over from period). Ache doesn't seem as bad since. BTW I'm 35.

Go to your GP. It's unlikely to be your age at 35, but might be something else that is benign but treatable. I had ovarian cysts that made my periods go absolutely haywire and gave me pain.
