I have birth 2 weeks ago. It was a SVB at 40+1 with gas and air. The placenta was unusually large and that led to increased blood loss. I was on bed rest for 24 hours and my bloods showed low iron. I was struggling with mobility post birth due to a bulging lumbar disc and SPD.
I came home from the midwife led unit 4 days post birth. On the night if the fifth day I woke in the middle of the night with severe abdominal pain. My DH called an ambulance who took me to the large, regional teaching hospital.
Upon arrival I was examined externally and internally as week gaining blood and urine samples. My temp, blood pressure and pulse were normal. The bloods and urine showed infection markers so I was admitted. I was given 3 different antibiotics and 3 painkillers. I was able to come home 3 days later.
I finished the courses of antibiotics on Sunday. I decided not to take the dihydrocodeine painkiller today but to continue with diclofenic and paracetamol. I have just had an episode of stabbing abdominal pain. Why?
Surely this should now be gone as I have finished the ABs?
I should mention that this happened after the birth of DD1 but I ignored it and was admitted 10 days post birth with sepsis requiring IV antibiotics. The consultant I saw this time mentioned a rare post pg complication where infection occurs as the uterus shrinks and the bladder moved back into position.
I will have to make a GP appt. But, any ideas what this is? How long I can expect symptoms? Anything I can do to help?
