How quickly can thrush develop?

As the title says... I seem to react badly to tena lady but on a long car journey needs must for my own reassurance (never had to 'make use' of it) but that was yesterday... Only had it on for 5 hours and today I'm a bit itchy.
I've wacked the canesten on which gets rid of it quickly for me but just wondered if it could develop into an itch within 24hours? (Can the bacteria really grow that quick?!)

Thrush is a fungus not a bacteria and yes it can develop very quickly. If I have to have antibiotics I always get thrush within a day.
