Bleeding after sex

I'm panicking slightly.

Dtd with Dp this evening and when I went to the loo and wiped afterwards there was some bright red blood Blush

Not a lot, spotting I would say and has stopped now. I also experienced some discomfort during sex. Lower left tummy pain. I've had niggly pains there all week. The pain was worse when Dp went in from behind.

I have been told that I have polycystic ovaries, a few small fibroids and I had CIN111 about 12-13 years ago.

Has anyone experienced the same?

Yes, twice.
Once chlamydia
Once eroded cervix - cells from inside womb growing outside

Both treated and all ok.

Thanks Cheesy Smile

Good to know it's not always something too sinister. I do tend to worry. It's the first time it's happened, would it be an over reaction to book an appointment with the Gp do you think? Or should I see if it happens again?

No sign of any bleeding at all this morning.

I had this too...again, was cervical erosion, treated easily (if not particularly comfortably!).

If you're still having the tummy pains I'd probably make an appointment. Just a heads up mind, when I told my doctor they referred me for investigations on the two week urgent referral pathway, which was a bit scary, but think that was because it had been persistent (several months) and they were being cautious...

Sorry to hear that LadySnaps and glad that it was nothing serious for you.

I don't have any pain at all now, and didn't after sex either, perhaps it was the deeper penetration that caused the pain? As I say nothing to report this morning, no pain or bleeding at all.

I think I will pop to the Gp though. As I said in my op, I know I have cysts on my ovaries and some fibroids but haven't had a scan for a couple of years so may ask for one just to check that neither of these things have worsened.

Thanks for the advice Smile

Let us know how you get on.

Do not let the GP however dismiss this.

Discomfort during sex should always be investigated further and by a gynaecologist. This problem is outside a GPs remit so seek specialist help.

Deep pain during sex is highly indicative of endometriosis. Do not be afraid but seek specialist medical advice asap. Also you could do with having up to date info on the state of your fibroids. Polycystic ovaries themselves are not painful.

Thank you Atilla. I wish you were my Gp! They aren't keen to refer usually. I had a problem with my eyes for almost 2 years and pushed for an ophthalmology referral. The Gp singed and acted like she was doing me a big favour and said there wasn't much point as they would likely reject the referral but she agreed to do it. Turns out it's a good job she did - I had quite a serious problem which, if left, could have led to vision loss.

But I digress, I will take your advice and call the Gp tomorrow. I do suspect I might have endometriosis but thought I was being a bit of a hypochondriac, you have given me the push I needed to get investigated.

Will definitely update. Thanks again.

Definitely book an appointment, better to get it checked

Well I made an appointment with the Gp today, said it was personal. Saw a male Gp who has been there years and he didn't examine me! He said I needed to see a female Gp so booked me in for Wednesday morning.

Now I'm not shy (once I had my dd all modesty went out the window) and I wouldn't have minded him taking a look but he didn't appear to want to.

So I've to go back Wednesday and will have a smear (last one was 2 years ago and came back normal) and some swabs.

Have had no bleeding or pain since so I'm thinking it could have come from outside rather than inside.

Hmmm. We shall see.
