Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

Apple pudding sounds lovely especially if there's custard too

Ruby, I had capceitabine and oxaliplatin first time round, the oxaliplatin floored me. I could only tolerate 4 cycles of the 8 I was supposed to have.

This time I am having irinotecan, 5FU pump and depending on the histology of the tumour a monoclonal antibody called avasitin.

The side effects do not look as bad as the oxaliplatin. I found the sensitivity to cold and peripheral neuropathy horrendous.

I also can't wait to be able to get some stronger pain relief once I stop BF. due to an accident on the A3 my 45 minute journey took over 2.5 hours and I was doubled over in pain and almost in tears when I got to the hospital. I really wish I could have chemo closer as it looks like I might have to go and see my consultant one day and go back for chemo the next which I managed to avoid last time. It just gets so expensive.

Next adventure for me, is PICC line being inserted on Wednesday. This is a big one as I am going to leave DD2 at home with my mum, and am also relying on her to drop DD1 at preschool & pick up, and maybe pick up DS from school, although I have arranged for a school mum to pick him up in the morning. I think it is a bit unfair to expect my mum to get all three of them out the door by 8.25, although she did used to do it with the 4 of us.

Hi all,

Nice new thread!

Just a flying visit from me as in just back from a vile drive after dropping DD at uni, and completely whacked.

Will read up last thread and chip into the reconstruction discussion tomorrow. Seeing Miss Surgeon in the afternoon. Armpit still sore. She had to rummage about a bit to get hold of that pesky thickened node, so I'm hoping that's the reason and nothing more troublesome.

Have a good evening all

thanks Ruby.

Wow what a day weebarra. Though at least now you have a plan. Tough road ahead, but at least you know you can start and see the other side.

Nowt to say. Bit doom and gloom here, as DS's best friend is leaving to go to another school and he's devastated. Not too sure what I think, but v.sad about it for DS though. Sad

Hope everyone's okay out there. All Tax trucks parked up and in line? Grin

Hmph just lost my post.

knitting I had same combo and only managed five of eight with the oxaliplatin, cycles two to four were just capecitabine. The cold thing was horrible but I didn't really have much peripheral neuropathy thankfully. Only a tiny bit of tingling in fingers. I think you're eligible for DLA so might be worth applying to help a little with money. Good that your mum is able to help, does she live close by or is she staying with you at the moment?

marshy hope you're having a relaxing evening after the drive. Sounds like armpit pain is likely to be from surgeon prodding, they are often quite rough!

smee :( for DS. Will they still be able to see each other out of school or is he moving away?

malt good you're feeling better and that DH is taking good care of you :)

I'm just watching yesterday's Downton :)

that's good Malt. Do you expect to hear from the DCs whilst they are in sunny Spain?
How are you getting on with Downton? I watched all the previous series on DVD (like you) and was completely hooked but for some reason am not getting into this series at all. Not sure if it's becasue I have to wait a week each time or because my concentration is shot.

Gigs - I am really enjoying Private Practice now - particularly enjoying Addisons clothes (even though I am not that body shape at all so they would look pants on me!!).

My aches are much better now. Also as I am seeing onc tomorrow morning I'm hoping that my stomach behaves much better then it did this morning (otherwise I'll be scared to leave the houseBlush).

I'm enjoying downton still, though some of it is a bit silly and there does seem to be a lot of different storylines going on !

Love the new title Ruby.

WeeBarra I hope you are doing OK after your diagnosis. Sending good wishes your way.

Had a nice 2 glasses of white wine tonight. I'm drinking the left overs from MILs overnight visit last night, normally I'm a red wine gal. Feel less hyper than I did all day. Maybe I'll sleep.

Ah, insomnia my old friend, here we are again. I'm sure its anxiety as chemo due Wed. Then will get date for MRI to see if its working.

I think I'm starting to lose my composure about all this. Have been very calm and positive up til now.

Hi Foo - don't worry about your MRI. I had an MRI after 3 chemos and it showed that nothing had happened to the lump but it was still OK - it's nice if it shrinks but not essential Smile. Have a hug.

In addition to my bloods and onc appt I also have to get Halloween costumes for DCs today - we have a big ASDA near here so that will be my first point of call. DD will need an adult outfit this time - she said anything will do but DS specifically wants a Vampire.
Then I'm going into work for lunch Grin.

Oh and I'm 45 so can I have the next thread please? (Mind you my birthday is 7th Dec so it depends how quickly we get there.)

Marking place and grabbing some apple pud (if there's any left).

I am whispering but ... I think my leaky boob has healed up ...... shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I took a look last night under the 1000 steri strips and it looks gorgeously knitted together. I could dance with delight but wikll wait until I have seen Surgeon Sam on Friday to make sure.

smee my weekend was fabulous thanks - saw some lovely friends, got a free haircut and drank too much ... managed to get myself stuck trying to get out of a kids cabin bed and have a really impressive bruise on my thigh (ouch). I cooked breakfast in Southport for 5 and Dunkinfield for 12 but did act my age (nearly 48 eeeek) and went to bed at a reasonable hour ... didn't stop me smiling when i heard the youngsters laughing their legs off coming to bed at 4am ... there were 12 of us from all over the UK who met on a forum similar to this that I moderated, they all had their babies in July 2006.

hope everyone is doing Ok today, I hear topsy has gone on a school trip so I cant take her out for lunch today .... she is getting all educated at the museum I think !

Morning. I missed a trick, the last thread was numbered for me Grin.
Just been to GP for cortisone jab in hip - not related to cancer, just pesky hip - hopefully this will enable me to carry on enjoying long walks when I can during chemo.
Stoopid drain still here and has filled right up so doesn't look like I'll be getting rid of it today. Will have to have extra wine this evening to compensate.
DH off today and itching to get out of house so hopefully we'll go somewhere good for lunch - I have definitely got my appetite back, will have to watch that or my new skinny jeans won't fit any more.
Have also been trying to avoid all TV coverage of GBBO this morning - lots of spoilers and controversy apparently.......will Ruby be victorious?!
