High levels of B12 - problem?

I had blood tests for hair loss and the B12 showed too high levels. That's all the doctor's office would tell me on phone; I have to speak to doctor tomorrow.

Any knowledge - google has only thrown up things that sound a little scary!

Thanks

B12 is water soluble so you should excrete any excess. That's why you can't overdose, as per WHO guidelines, unlike other B vitamins. That's not really helpful though but as a person with Pernicious Aanaemia I know my levels can be affected by Folic Acid. I do know that there is now a better way of testing B 12 levels called an active B 12 test it checks your stores rather than what's floating about not being used. Why were you tested in the first place, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Orianne, thanks - tested because of hair loss and very low ferritin levels (grossly reduced, in consultant talk). Consultant just wanted me to have b12, b6 and zinc tested. I've been taking ferrous fumerate since Dec

Hi. I have been told my b12 is high whilst my hb is 11.3 my doctor sent me for a liver function test as I have swollen ankles as well. Not too sure what is happening. Hope all goes well with you nomorekisses.
