Intermittant fasting to lose weight to get pregnant

Hi

I'm planning on trying for a baby in September and for the last 4 months been dieting and exercising like a nutter with no real results, completely frustrating when I have never been this motivated EVER! So I'm going to try intermittant fasting! The 5/2 dirt as its called. Has anyone had any real results from it combined with exercise? I'm 92kg and need to lose a good 25 kg in 4 months :-(

ask them on this thread - they know all about it. They won't mind and you honestly would be made to feel most welcome Smile

Try Slimming World. Sensible, sustainable and it will ensure you get optimal nutrition which is vital for ensuing all systems working as they should.
It's all recommended for use in pregnancy, not necessarily to lose weight, but to minimise weight gain and I used t whilst breast feeding.

Hello midwifeD - sadly what may seem like a diet to you may not actually be a diet. What I mean is are you over compensating on your non fast days? If I eat more than 2000 calories on my non fast day, I don't lose weight. And my fast day has to be less than 500 - including milk in teas, carrots etc. there's an app called fitness pal which helps you track calories. I didn't realise ho much I actually ate until I wrote it down. You shouldn't have to exercise like crazy, but again, what youn think if as crazy exercise, I might think of as run of the mill. I do 45 mins cross trainer three times a week and 2 x 90 min walks.

I'm only putting this down by way of comparison. I need to do this (without fasting) to maintain my weight

Good luck. Weight loss is hard, whenever I struggle I think of Bradley Wiggins, who in the months leading up,to the Tour de France, when he has to she'd weight, cycles hundreds of kilometres a day and reduces his calorie intake to around 1500 calories! He doesn't faint or fall apart!.

if you are eating fewer calories than you burn off, you will lose weight. So I'm afraid you are either eating too much (more likely), burning off too little or (just possibly) you have a health problem.

25kg is not coming off in four months if you want the loss to be sustainable. I think in old money of a pound a week, I think that comes out at 8kg in four months.

easy come, easy go - only with crash diets, or indeed any diet, it is the other way round.
