Very worried. This is the heaviest period of my life. Three weeks now. The only thing that stopped it before was cereaztte but despite still taking that this period is taking over my life :(

Being prescribed some tablets that might stop bleeding and need further tests.

Also making me very emotional! Anyone else?

So you've seen your GP?

If you're at all concerned that the bloodloss is worsening or you start passing clots then I would ring nhs direct for advice.

An alternative would be to ring your local hospital and ask to be put through to the gynae ward and speak to a nurse directly.

I hope you get sorted soon.

I have crazy ones like this. I needed to have a blood transfusion a few weeks ago because of this. I have fibroids so they have given me some medication to try and shrink them. They do seem to be going down and the pills have stopped the bleeding as well. You must be incredibly run down. Sad Pop back to your GP and ask them to check your iron levels. It's exhausting now but you'll be surprised by how well you feel once the bleeding stops and your iron levels are back to normal.

Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil tablets for the high emotions? I've been having extremely heavy periods since giving birth 2yrs ago, and have found these help a lot with the mood swings.

I hope you get sorted soon. Keep pushing with your GP, there are lots of different options for heavy bleeding.

I saw the GP today. Intially she thought it was a miscarriage but pregnancy test proved otherwise.

She has booked me in for a blood test to check iron levels and another scan. I had a scan a few months back but nothing was found.

I do have polycystic ovaries so this probably contributes.

I have been passing clots- I didnt realise I could phone the gynae ward direct.
I think if this medication doesnt stop the bleeding I will ring. A blood transfusion sounds scary though.

Thank you so much for the tip for evening primrose, I definitly will try that.

Does anyone know if the pill itself can ever cause this?
