SYNDOL WITHDRAWN AGAIN?

Olivebranch · 27/01/2013 09:19

I went to buy some Syndol yesterday and was told by Boots in a London store that they had taken them off their shelves again. I called my husband and asked him to go into the Morrisons Pharmacy where we live in Crowborough East Sussex and they said the same. Has anyone else had any problems buying syndol?

Yes I have and am gutted as it is the only thing that helps my severe migraines when I get them. They are sold out all over near me and they don't know if and when will be back :(

www.kayeschemist.co.uk have some online. A few chemists may have some left. Apparently my chemist told me it is a licencing problem again. Hopefully they will be back soon.

Cant seem to buy them locally anywhere!! However Amazon are selling them but have you seen the PRICE!!:-0. There is a site buysyndol.co.uk, but need to know if anyone else has puchased from here. I have e mail them to check if the site is secure but still dubious.. Desperate now, they're the only tablet that helps my migranes and cluster headaches. So sad !.

I have just received 100 tablets of Syndol from buysyndol.co.uk. The brand is different to that sold normally in the uk (they were shipped from South Africa) so the tablets and packaging are not the same. However, the contents are identical. They arrived just 2 days after I ordered them. They were £49.99 for 100 tablets so still pricey but worth every penny!

I've not had any for months :( I've moved onto solpadeine but that leaves me loopy.

Just asking (because my bil was ranting -really- about this) why can't you get the paracetamol (syndol has a sub-optimal dose), codeine and the antihistamine (sedating) elements seperately (clearly you'd have to get codeine on prescription, or buy p&c OTC).

But looking at what's in it - 2xco-codamol (8/500), a dose of piriton and a cup of coffee seems to contain all the ingredients of syndol.

I'm no stranger to pain and was on imigran + co codamol for years for migraine, and now am treated for neuro pain.

I just honestly wondered what is so great about the syndol brand. I don't quite get why it is so much better, given the cost, than the individual bits taken on their own.

Really I'm not trying to be awkward. I just don't get it and bil ended up in a huff when I asked?

I would be very very wary about buying pharmaceuticals online. How do you know that they are not fake/what is in them?

Had a look at the website there is no address or landline phone number. I would not be buying anything from them let alone medication!

They are fine, I've bought from them. Bloody expensive but they are what they say they are.

Doxylamine is the active ingredient, not piriton.

You can buy that on amazon and make your own syndol. Watch the dose though...the doxylamine is stronger than in the syndol IYSWIM!

Agree that the doxylamine is stronger! Just said on the other syndol thread that doing it yourself just doesn't seem to work as well but that's probably just me.

Hi Alice,

I've been keeping an eye on these threads about Syndol because I was worried someone might find the link you did.

This blog I found says not to trust any Syndol from another country, especially if it doesn't match the original one! So I probably wouldn't recommend it to ANY one. Please do not buy that product from the website, you won't know what the side-effects are!

You can check the blog out here: blog.thehealthcounter.com/2014/04/syndol-is-gone-but-there-are-alternatives/

I hope this helps everyone!
